The AKAI digital picture frame is built using quality glossy plastic as the frame.  Not only that, the glossiness has also been applied to the 15” screen.  The unit brings on the classy, elegance, and rich look and feel.

The connections include a USB port and a mini-USB port, and card reader supports CompactFlash, SD, xD, MemoryStick, and MMC.  The card reader supports SD, xD, CompactFlash, MMC, and MemoryStick; JPEG picture format is supported for images and to the degree that movies go, MPEG1, MPEG2, and MPEG4 video formats are supported, along with MP3 for audio.

A disadvantage that may be missed is the lack of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.  Many of the current digital LCD frames are equipped with both of these technologies, which allow you to utilize your PC to download new photographs to the digital picture frame, as well as numerous other things.  Nonetheless, the AKAI digital picture frame is most beneficial for beginner users who would feel overwhelmed doing anything with the Wi-Fi or the Bluetooth.  If you could, imagine explaining to your grandfather how to use Wi-Fi to connect the PC or laptop to the AKAI.

One more shortcoming is the lack of internal memory.  What this means is that you cannot put your pics and videos in the digital picture frame itself.  If you do not have one, you must attach the memory card to the AKAI to dislplay your photos.  Also you can attach the4 digital camera to the AKAI to show the photographs.  However, you can give the AKAI digital picture frame as a present to your parents or grandparents and put in a memory card full of pics of the girls and all they have to do is turn on the digital picture frame and relish over the photos.  I think that this is the idea behind this particular AKAI picture frame.
