The Next Stage In Home Technology Advancement

October 10th, 2009 at 11:49am Under General

In the western world people have embraced technology ever since electricity become widely available.People bought these technologies (and still do) in the hope that they will free up more time and make their lives that little bit easier. For the most part this is true. No one can argue that a dishwasher does not save people lots of time and effort, but due to the fact most home technology is wired into your home, it will always limit the amount of freedom you can enjoy.

Everyone knows how much effort is involved in hooking up your lawnmower to the mains and trying to find an extension cable that will reach to the end of the garden and not give you a thousand volt shock if you mow over it. We have always been chained either to one part of the house or to the house itself, but this is all changing with the freedom that wireless technology gifts us.

Previously, if you wanted to listen to music in your home you would have to sit in the room with the stereo, or buy one for each room. Nowadays you can have one central unit and wireless speakers placed in each room allowing you to hear your tunes wherever you wonder. Wireless internet means you can roam your house freely on your laptop and you can even buy a wireless alarm clock which connects to your stereo wirelessly and blasts out your favorite ABBA song (or whatever you like) to wake you up in the morning.

We are completely surrounded by wireless devices in this day and age, and each one of them plays it’s part in making everyday life run that bit smoother. The level of freedom provided by these technologies will continue to increase in future, with a predicted 75% of technology in homes being wireless by the year 2025.

Has the mobile phone taken over out lives?

August 21st, 2009 at 04:27pm Under General

A recent poll has shown that the British are very much addicted to their mobile phones. Research has shown that 88% of people do not leave their homes without their mobile phone. This is simply saying that as a country without mobile phones we would come to a halt. Whats this also means is that a wopping 53,658,000 phones are carried around in bags and pockets in the streets of the UK every single day.  In truth Britain sends over 1 Billion texts a week putting us into the top 6 for texting in the world which is ridiculous considering Britain is such a small country.

The poll went on to say that over anything else a mobile is the one thing we will always take with us even over a wallet or purse. Funnily enough the midlands saw the best/worst result depending on how you look at things with a massive 98% of people saying they carried it with them every single day.
The real question is, why? The answer really is quite simple. The amount of things a mobile phone can now do is astronomical ranging from a simple text or call to checking the bank details online or even getting insurance quotes. Phones are becoming more and more advanced by the year with some having either MP3 within the phone itself or in the case of the I-Phone an actual I-pod included within the phone! As well as this you can now watch television as well as your favourite film all from the touch of a button on the phone as well as look at quotes from different car insurance firms!

Of course it does mean that muggings have risen simply because there are simply more phones out there to take as well as the question are we becoming too dependent on technology? It seems as the generations go on and on we are becoming more and more lazier as this was certainly not like this thirty years ago.

If technology is your thing then why not look for gadget insurance to make sure your favourite new gadget is protected against anything and everything!
